ABOUT TAHIRA CLAYTON

Originally from Dallas, TX and now living in New York City, Tahira Clayton is known for her honest vocal delivery and charismatic stage presence. A strong lyricist and storyteller, Tahira’s musical style honors the ancestral lineage of Black American Music. Tahira recently headlined IMG Artists “Bessie, Billie, Nina: Pioneering Women in Jazz,” a national tour, alongside Charenee Wade, Vanisha Gould, and music directed by Carmen Staaf. She has led groups and performed in prestigious venues such as Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Sony Music Hall, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, The 55 Bar, Minton’s Playhouse, The Rainbow Room, Cornelia Street Café, the Cell Theater, the Jazz Showcase (Chicago), and in 2021 opened for Alicia Keys in Antibes, France. A sought after side-woman, Tahira has lended her voice to numerous recording projects, performances, and songwriting collaborations.

ABOUT CAILI O’DOHERTY (piano)

New York-based pianist, composer, arranger and educator, Caili O’Doherty, is known for integrating structures of language in both her compositions and her approach to improvisation. Her recent music focuses on the celebration, preservation, and expansion upon the achievements of jazz’s unsung women heroes. O’Doherty holds a Bachelor of Music in performance from Berklee College of Music (BM ’13) and a Master of Music in performance from Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (MM ’19). She has received national awards for piano performance and composition from the ASCAP Foundation and Downbeat Magazine.

ABOUT CORY COX (drums)

Drummer Cory Cox is a native of Houston, TX. Inspired by his family’s passion for music, he studied privately and worked with the youth choir at his church at age eight. Developing an interest in music, he enrolled into the arts program at Johnston Middle School and The High School for The Performing and Visual Arts. Working with various ensembles and mentors that introduced him to jazz and world music, he was inspired to pursue a music career that would take him around the world.
