ShiZ’ka Perfrorms Works of Beethoven, Schumann, Scriabin, More, at Opera America (Site)

$15 – $25In celebration of the 13 Scarlatti Sonatas recording, ShiZ'ka will be presenting a recital of works by Beethoven, Schumann, Scriabin and more.
Shizuka "ShiZ'ka" Saeki-Arkus is a classical pianist who began playing at age 4. Having studied with renowned Japanese teachers, Toshimi Sakou, Keita Kosaka, Makoto Yamahata, and Mako Okamoto, she has built a talent that has taken her to perform throughout Japan and the United States.
At the age of 17, ShiZ'ka was a finalist in the Japan Classical Music Society competition. In college, she studied at Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts, supplementing her classical training with studies in jazz in Japan with Makoto Takenaka and Yoko Yamamoto, and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Recent performance venues have included the Mount Sinai Guggenheim Atrium, Third Street Music School Settlement, and Tenri Cultural Institute. ShiZ'ka looks forward to continuing classical performances around her current home base in the US and around the world.
She recently released a recording of 13 Scarlatti Sonatas.
