“Mr. Valera is often relentless and blistering at the keyboard, but a shape-shifting melodicism is embedded in everything he plays.”
—The New York Times

Manuel Valera, a Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and composer born in Havana, Cuba, brings his formidable trio to Klavierhaus at 790 11th Avenue, New York, NY 10019, on July 23 for an exceptional evening of jazz piano. Renowned for his relentless and blistering style on the keyboard, Valera infuses each piece with a shape-shifting melodicism, as noted by The New York Times.

Supported by Hamish Smith on bass and Mark Whitfield Jr. on drums, Valera showcases his talents in the modern jazz scene of NYC. His extensive experience includes collaborations with notable artists like Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D’Rivera, and Jeff “Tain” Watts, among others.

As the leader of Manuel Valera and the New Cuban Express, Valera delves into the fusion of Jazz, R&B, fusion, funk, and Cuban music styles, creating a unique and distinctive sound. His album “Expectativas” received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy in 2013.
