The Strathmere Ensemble was officially founded in 1996, but its roots go back to long before: and it’s all about Bach!For many years, members of the Ensemble performed in the New England Bach Festival under our beloved maestra Blanche Moyse, even going way back to the 1960s for a few of us. What could be better than getting to play the music of our favorite composer in beautiful Vermont, with a wonderful chorus, great soloists and a sublimely inspired conductor? Without a doubt these experiences have lasted us a lifetime.With our concert “Back to Bach” we celebrate our continued devotion to performing the music of the composer that was “the culmination of everything before him, and the inspiration for everything that came after him”.

We also celebrate our return to performing live concerts at St. John’s for a live audience!
