Adam Tendler & Conor Hanick, at Merkin Hall (Site)

Tuesday November 28, 2023, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$30

PIANO DIALOGUES Two of the most celebrated pianists on the contemporary classical scene perform two piano works by seminal queer iconoclasts Steve Martland and Julius Eastman. The program juxtaposes Martland’s thrilling and seldom-heard Drill with Eastman’s epic masterpiece of musical activism, Gay Guerilla. A recipient of the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, Adam Tendler is “currently the hottest pianist on the American contemporary classical scene” (Minneapolis Star Tribune), a “remarkable and insightful musician” (Los Angeles Times) and a “relentlessly adventurous pianist” (Washington Post). Conor Hanick is regarded as one of his generation’s most inquisitive interpreters of music new and old whose “technical refinement, color, crispness and wondrous variety of articulation benefit works by any master” (New York Times).
