An Ensembles concert at Merkin Hall provides an intimate connection between musicians and audience. Artists

Yulia Ziskel (Violin): A member of the New York Philharmonic’s first violin section since 2001, Yulia Ziskel, who holds The Friends and Patrons Chair, has established herself as a highly acclaimed solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. Audrey Wright (Violin): Audrey Wright is a multifaceted artist across solo, chamber music, and orchestral realms. She joined the New York Philharmonic in 2022, having served as associate concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She also serves as concertmaster of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. Wright has performed across the globe in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, London’s Royal Albert Hall, Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, and the Vatican, and has been a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, and Cape Symphony Orchestra. With a passion for innovative programming and juxtaposing a wide range of musical styles, her repertoire spans the early 17th century to the modern day, and her performing experience includes the full spectrum of these musical styles, from period performance practice to the premiering of new and personally commissioned works. Her debut album,  Things In Pairs,  with pianist Yundu Wang, was released on Navona Records in 2022. Learn more about Audrey Wright

Anna Rabinova (Violin): Violinist Anna Rabinova performs nationally and internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and recording artist. She joined the New York Philharmonic in 1994, two years after arriving in the United States from her native Russia; in the 2008–09 season she was a soloist with the Orchestra in Bach’s  Brandenburg  Concerto No. 5, led by Lorin Maazel. Kyung Ji Min (Violin): Violinist Kyung Ji Min joined the New York Philharmonic in September 2019. Born in South Korea in 1995, she began playing the violin at age seven, studying with Hyuna Kim and graduating with highest honors from Yewon School, where she was concertmaster of the school orchestra. She received top prizes in national competitions and gave solo and chamber concerts as part of the Kumho Prodigy Concert series, supported by the Kumho Foundation. She came to the United States to study with Aaron Rosand and Shmuel Ashkenasi at the Curtis Institute of Music — where she served as assistant concertmaster of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra — and subsequently studied with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes at The Juilliard School, where she served as concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra. She performed with the Verbier Chamber Orchestra in 2017 and has performed under the baton of conductors including Alan Gilbert, Rossen Milanov, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Gerard Schwarz, and Osmo Vänska. Soohyun Kwon (Violin): Violinist Soohyun Kwon, The Joan and Joel I. Picket Chair, became a member of the New York Philharmonic in September 2001. Prior to joining the Philharmonic, Kwon performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Vienna Symphony Chamber Orchestra at the Bregenz Summer Music Festival, Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra at Smetana Hall, Vienna Mozart Orchestra at the Goldensaal Musikverein, Tchaikovsky Society, Shanghai Symphony, Korea Chamber Ensemble, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Rebecca Young (Viola): Rebecca Young joined the New York Philharmonic in 1986 as its youngest member. In 1991 she won the position of Associate Principal Viola. Two months later she was named principal viola of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After spending the 1992–93 season in Boston and two summers at Tanglewood, she ultimately decided to return to her family in New York, resuming her Associate Principal position with the Philharmonic in September 1994. She can currently be seen leading the viola section of the  All-Star Orchestra,  a popular televised educational series about classical music. Learn more about Rebecca Young

Cong Wu (Viola): Cong Wu joined the New York Philharmonic as Assistant Principal Viola in September 2018. He is the winner of the Third Prize and the Chamber Music Prize in the Fourteenth Primrose International Viola Competition, and the Special Prize in the Twelfth Tertis International Viola Competition. His performances throughout North America and Asia include solo appearances with the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, New York Classical Players, and the Long Island Concert Orchestra. Sumire Kudo (Cello): Sumire Kudo joined the Philharmonic as a cellist in June 2006. Previously she taught at Indiana University–South Bend and was the cellist of the Avalon String Quartet. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Kudo began cello studies at age four with her father, cellist Akiyoshi Kudo. She came to the United States in 2000, after establishing herself in her native country through solo performances and recordings. Her honors include the Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award, which she received from the Sony Music Foundation after being chosen by Seiji Ozawa and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi as the most promising cellist in 2005, and prizes at the Sapporo Junior Cello Competition and 62nd Japan Music Competition. Kudo is a graduate of Tokyo’s Toho School and The Juilliard School. She has participated in the Nagano-Aspen Music, Aspen Music, Santa Fe, and Marlboro Music festivals.  Record Geijutsu,  Japan’s leading classical music magazine, named her second solo CD,  Love of Beauty,  Best Recording. Nathan Vickery (Cello): Lauded as a “formidable cello soloist”  (The New York Times),  cellist Nathan Vickery appears regularly in solo and chamber music recitals and at music festivals around the country. In a 2016 performance of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, he was celebrated for his “talent and artistry” and his “fresh and appealing account” of the work  (The New York Times). Max Zeugner (Bass): Associate Principal Bass Max Zeugner, The Herbert M. Citrin Chair, joined the New York Philharmonic in September 2012. Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, he started studying classical guitar before transitioning to electric bass and finally to double bass and received lessons from the Joy of Music Program and Burncoat High School’s Music Magnet Program. After attending a summer chamber music workshop at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson, New Hampshire, he shifted his focus from jazz to classical. He began taking lessons at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School with bassist Deborah Dunham and studied with Richard Hartshorne. He joined youth orchestras in Boston and in 2001 he was runner up at the Boston Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition. He went on to become a scholarship student of New York Philharmonic bassist Orin O’Brien at The Juilliard School and Edwin Barker at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, where he won the 2005 Concerto Competition. Mindy Kaufman (Flute): Mindy Kaufman, The Edward and Priscilla Pilcher Chair, joined the New York Philharmonic as flute and solo piccolo in 1979 at the age of 22,  after performing for three seasons with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She received a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Walfrid Kujala, Bonita Boyd, and James Galway. Learn more about Mindy Kaufman

Benjamin Adler (Clarinet): Benjamin Adler, a native of Brooklyn, New York, joined the New York Philharmonic as Associate Principal Clarinet and E-flat clarinet at the start of the 2023–24 season. Adler previously held positions with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as guest principal clarinet in St. Louis and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and has performed as a guest musician with The Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.  Learn more about Benjamin Adler

Eric Huebner (Piano): P ianist Eric Huebner   has drawn worldwide acclaim for his performances of new and traditional music since making his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at age 17. In January 2012 he was appointed pianist of the New York Philharmonic and holds the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Piano Chair. From 2001 through 2012, Huebner was a member of Antares, a quartet comprised of clarinet, violin, cello, and piano. First-prize winner of the 2002 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Antares appeared regularly in major chamber music venues throughout the United States and worked closely with many composers on the commissioning of new works for its combination.
