Joel Forrester on the Upper Terrace at Bryant Park

A five, six, seven, eight…come on down and swing along to the best ragtime, stride, and jazz the Big Apple has to offer. With special performances on select Thursdays and sprinkled spontaneously throughout the season.

Joel Forrester is a prolific jazz pianist and composer with over 1,600 original works, known for his eclectic style blending stride, boogie-woogie, bebop, and more. He is widely recognized for composing the theme for NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross, one of the most frequently broadcast jazz pieces in American radio. A versatile performer, Forrester leads his own quintet, records extensively, and is internationally acclaimed for his live accompaniments to silent films, with notable performances in Paris, Avignon, and major New York venues.
