Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Debussy’s La Mer, a thrilling sea voyage portrayed in rich orchestral colors, plus dances from Images. The NY Phil celebrates Pierre Boulez’s centennial with acclaimed pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard performing selections from Boulez’s Notations for solo piano in dialogue with the composer’s own orchestrations, as well as Debussy’s radiant Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra.

Esa-Pekka Salonen (Conductor): Esa-Pekka Salonen is known as both a composer and conductor. He is the music director of the San Francisco Symphony and the conductor laureate of London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the faculty of the Colburn School, he directs the pre-professional Negaunee Conducting Program. Pierre-Laurent Aimard (Piano): Pierre-Laurent Aimard is the recipient of the prestigious International Ernst von Siemens Music Prize and the Leonie Sonning Music Prize. Widely acclaimed as an authority on music of our time, over the years he has collaborated with leading composers including Helmut Lachenmann, Elliott Carter, Harrison Birtwistle, György Kurtág, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Marco Stroppa, and Olivier Messiaen.
