Christopher Kuo – Solo Piano Recital at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music (Site)
Wednesday May 14, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeI started taking piano seriously in 2015, when my mom invited me to perform a two piano recital with her at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Since then, I’ve performed more than 40 concerts across the US with her, always in a two piano format.
My path as a pianist is very atypical – most of the time, pianists focus on solo repertoire and then occasionally do chamber music. I started with chamber music, and balancing my work on the trading floor with my musical endeavors left nearly no room for me to explore myself as a solo musician.
In the last year, I had a goal to put on a solo show. I started sneaking in a solo feature in each of my concerts in the last year to force myself to bring pieces to concert standard. Finally, I’m ready! Or I will be on concert day…
I am proud to dedicate this concert to Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, my very first nonprofit partner when I started the Two Piano Journey project. Robert Lee, founder and CEO, was a dear friend and inspiration to me at NYU. Even though admission is free to the event, I will be matching up to $5,000 of contributions made by audience members at the recital. I hope you’ll join me in a quest to reduce food waste and bring resources to folks who need it!
