The superb baritone and frequent collaborator of the ensemble Roderick Williams joins for two selections, including Bach’s stunning “Ich habe genung,” BWV 82, one of Bach’s greatest pieces for voice. Bach Collegium Japan’s motto is “Bach’s music transmitted to the future.” That they succeed in delivering this in performances on Baroque period instruments speaks to Suzuki’s genius and vision, and the incomparably fresh artistry of this extraordinary ensemble.
