Celebrating Philip Glass: An Immersive Keyboard Experience

Program

Philip Glass’ work and massive impact reach across concert music, film, television, opera, dance, theater, and the cultural landscape far beyond. This week, on the occasion of his 89th birthday, we are celebrating the Juilliard alum with two events at Juilliard Station, our glass-enclosed, and in this case infused, performance space just off the 66th Street subway station.

Experience an immersive environment of multiple upright and digital pianos played by Juilliard students. Wander throughout the space and linger among the performers while listening to early works from Glass’ formative period in the late 1960s and early 1970s, including How Now and Music with Changing Parts. Stop in at any time during the performance installation for an exploration of layered sonority, duration, and color.

Note that there can be lines to enter Juilliard Station, so we suggest arriving early.
