SUMMARY:Distance From The Dream: Songs to Face a Vanishing America\, at The Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Blackbox at Tisch School Of The Arts
DESCRIPTION:Tisch New Theatre proudly presents DISTANCE FROM THE DREAM: Songs to Face a Vanishing America for its Fall 2025 production. \nHow do you respond when the America you thought you knew becomes unrecognizable?\nDISTANCE FROM THE DREAM: Songs to Face a Vanishing America weaves together the most urgent and provocative songs of the musical theatre canon to reflect on a nation in turmoil. Featuring pieces from Tony Award-winning shows like RENT\, Spring Awakening\, Cabaret\, Falsettos\, Hadestown\, American Idiot\, Hedwig and the Angry Inch\, and more\, DISTANCE FROM THE DREAM explores rebellion and resilience from the perspective of young artists and activists. From high energy group numbers to powerhouse solo numbers navigating stories of found family\, defiance\, survival\, and the fight for identity\, the show asks: what does it mean to dream of an America that feels increasingly out of reach? \nCAST\nAMEER ALI | MIRIAM ASLAM | STEVENSON (STEVIE) BOWDEN | LEE BOWSER| TODD CROSLIS | ILA DAVID | CAMELIA ELÍAS SIERRA | CHLOE KARAMITSOS | ELLIS KIM | MASON NAMAN | JUDAH WIDZER | MICKEY WIRTZ | TARUN YANAMANDRA \nBAND\nPiano\, ANI CHONG | Guitar\, PRIANKA RAMALINGAM | Drums\, ANASTASIA THEODOROPOULOS\, | Bass\, DARREN DU | Violin\, OLIVIA KLATTE | Viola\, DAVID MANSFIELD | Cello\, NICOLE FENG \nPRODUCTION TEAM\nProduced by SOPHIA ASHBAHIAN and HANNAH STOBER in association with TISCH NEW THEATRE \nDirector/Choreographer LIAM REDFORD | Music Director/Orchestrator ANI CHONG | Scenic Designer ABIGAIL MASELLI | Costume Designer RACHEL KOLKO | Lighting Designer JERRY JIA | Sound Designer THEODORE EARNSHAW | Projection/Makeup Designer SAM CHARNEY \nTechnical Director SAM CHARNEY | Production Manager ELISE NIVA | Production Stage Manager LAURA SCHIVELEY | Stage Manager TAMMY LAM | Marketing Director HANNAH STOBER | Company Manager & Producing Associate MATTHEW FEINSTEIN | Assistant Producer SEOIN (KACY) KIM \nAssociate Directors ALEX CARSON and CLARK WORDEN | Assistant Choreographer DARBY GREENE | Dramaturg BRYCE GASTELUM | Assistant Dramaturg LUCAS LIU | Assistant Music Director KENNEDY (KENN) CHEW | Assistant Scenic Designers SRIVIDHYA CHANDRAMOULEESWARAN and ALEXANDER KELLY | Assistant Costume Designer ISABEL ASHER | Assistant Lighting Designer SKY EDWARD | Electrician/Light Board Operator JUDE CABRAL | Assistant Sound Designer/Sound Board Operator BRISHTI SARKAR | Assistant Production Managers ABE SPECTOR and MAYA VELAZQUEZ | Deck Manager MEERA KOCHAR MCCABE \nAssociate Director of Digital Marketing MADI KAPLAN | Associate Director of Partnerships and Experiential Marketing NGHI NGUYEN | Press Agent OSHMI GHOSH | Marketing Assistant LILLIE KELLAM | Graphic Designers ANIYA MARIE MARDORF and ASHLEY MU | Director of Fundraising VICTORIA SMITH | Director of Events SUSANNA HUBACKER | Director of Community Development INGRID PRICOP | Development Assistant ANA JULIA BAKER | DEIA Chair SAM CHARNEY | DEIA Assistant JORDAN HINES \nPhotographers MARIANA ARBOLEDA\, ADISON KEITH\, SUPRIYA RAJ\, TEJAS SAHNI\, and JAKE THEADORE | Videographers JANA FERRY\, SUPRIYA RAJ\, and TEJAS SAHNI \nScenic & Stage Management Advisor SEOIN (KACY) KIM | Costume Advisor MAXWELL GUTIERREZ | Production Management Advisor JERRY JIA \n  \nContent Warning: Discussion of politics\, Use of slurs and derogatory language\, Images of political unrest\, Moments of sexuality\, Moments of strobe lighting
