SUMMARY:Thu Ho Quartet at Williamsburg Music Center
DESCRIPTION:Thu’s ensemble features world-class jazz artists: Anthony Wonsey (piano)\, Will Lyle (bass)\, and Minchan Kim (drums). \nAnthony Wonsey\, a fiery and inventive pianist\, performs with Vincent Herring’s Earth Jazz Agents and has worked with Carmen Lundy\, Russell Malone\, Wynton Marsalis\, and others. He has recorded two albums as a leader with Christian McBride and Carl Allen. \nWill Lyle\, a Berklee and Manhattan School of Music graduate\, has toured globally with GRAMMY-winning artists and is also a rising educator\, creating tools for developing musicians. \nMinchan Kim is a dynamic drummer who has toured across Europe\, the Americas\, and Asia\, performing with Kenny Washington\, Jin Pureum\, and Jesse Davis. In 2023\, he won second prize at the Kurt Maas Jazz Award. \nSan Francisco-based vocalist Thu Ho brings her distinctive artistry and original music to New York City. Having performed with master saxophonist Joe Lovano at SFJAZZ and with Victor Wooten and his brothers for Juneteenth\, Thu blends the elegance of jazz with the raw emotion of blues and modern styles. \nShe recently earned rave reviews for her Helen Merrill tribute\, featuring music from Merrill’s first four albums with arrangements by Quincy Jones and Gil Evans. Another sold-out SFJAZZ performance over MLK weekend 2025 honored the legacy of Nina Simone. \n“I watched the first set at home and cycled over for the second set. It was worth the bike ride AND cover charge :)”\n— Vincent\, audience member
