Vocal Productions NYC is Extatic to Present one of our Professional Young Artists in Schubert’s Masterpiece work “Die Winterreise.” Bass Baritone Lawson Anderson will Team up with Maestro Francisco Miranda to bring you a breath taking evening of song!

A little about Lawson:

Hailed for his “powerful, darkly-hued voice” and “nobility of phrasing and carriage” (Cleveland Classical), Lawson Anderson is quickly establishing himself as one of the leading bass-baritones of his generation.

Lawson has made waves in the opera world coming off of a First Prize award from the Gerda Lissner Foundation’s International Vocal Competition; his Carnegie Hall debut singing Wotan from das Rheingold; his 2017 Opera Index Top Prize Arthur E. Walters Memorial Award; representing the USA as a Finalist of the 2017 Hans Gabor Belvedere finals in Moscow; a Grand Finalist and Winner of the 2017 Anita Cerquetti Voice Competition; a 2017 Grant Winner from the Giulio Gari Foundation; and a 2017 Eastern Region Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions!

Maestro Miranda:

Francisco Miranda is the Artistic Coordinator, Conductor, and pianist of Vocal Productions NYC. He has participated in 11 operas, including Don Giovanni, The Flying Dutchman, Iolanta, and The Tales of Hoffmann. In celebration of the company’s fifth anniversary, Mr. Miranda made his debut as conductor in the 2016 production of Don Giovanni. He also stepped in to conduct four performances of The Barber of Seville in December 2017. He will conduct his third opera, Verdi’s Macbeth, in 2019.

He has also collaborated with other companies in performances of Massenet’s Don Quichotte, Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges, and Verdi’s Rigoletto.

An avid proponent of Spanish and Latin American Music, he has performed works of this genre in his solo and two-piano recitals throughout the world. In 2007, he was invited to Japan to perform rare Spanish and Argentinean two-piano compositions, such as Carlos Guastavino and Manuel Infante, including his own two-piano arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s Invierno Porteño.

Mr. Miranda began piano lessons at age four with his father, Chilean pianist and protégé of Claudio Arrau, Mario Miranda. He received a piano scholarship from Greenwich House Music School to study with Germán Diez, another Arrau’s protégé. He has also participated in master classes of Sarah Davis Buechner, Leslie Howard, Constance Keene, and Jeffrey Swann.
