DESCRIPTION:Serene is a concert pianist and computer scientist. Whether performing Rachmaninoff’s Concertos at the Vienna Konzerthaus\, composing avant-garde cyberpunk VR music for the Academy Museum\, or programming and performing alongside industrial robots at a fusion energy facility\, Serene’s artistic vision extends far beyond traditional boundaries. \nShe enjoys collaborations across genres\, whether composing opera for Kanye West or performing with Grimes wearing brainwave devices. In a remarkably short time\, she has gathered an international following whilst bridging the gap between the traditional and the cutting-edge. As a technologist\, Serene began coding at age 9\, graduated early from Carnegie Mellon\, was hired by Google as a teenager\, and became the first engineer at Google Ideas. \nIn open source\, she is known as the creator of the Snowflake protocol\, a circumvention tool which helped millions of people bypass repressive censorship. She is the founder of Snowstorm\, the evolution of that protocol into a true internet freedom layer. \nSerene is a Bösendorfer Artist\, a National Arts Club Artist Fellow\, and advisory board member of the World Ethical Data Foundation. \nThis event occurs in person.
