SUMMARY:Musical Wonders by Czechoslovak Jews at Bohemian National Hall
DESCRIPTION:The program kicks off with Ignaz Brüll‘s passionate Piano Trio in E flat major\, which will be followed by Alfred Grünfeld‘s more light-hearted Kleine Serenade for violin and piano. Two pieces by composers whose music was silenced by the Holocaust will follow: Gideon Klein‘s Duo for Violin and Viola\, flaunting the composer’s dive into a microtonal sound world\, and Erwin Schulhoff‘s Melodie for violin and piano\, which the composer wrote at the age of 9. Gustav Mahler‘s Piano Quartet\, his most well-known piece of chamber music\, will conclude the program. \nunderStaffed is a 501c3 nonprofit collective of emerging musicians from the New York Metropolitan Area dedicated to the performance of works for chamber orchestra and small ensembles. underStaffed aims to perform in both conventional and unconventional venues\, hoping to bring classical music to those who might not be as familiar with the genre. underStaffed also makes an effort to regularly program works by lesser-known creators\, including both historically overlooked composers as well as up-and-coming contemporary composers. \nThe concert is organized by the Society for the History of Czechoslovak Jews with support of the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association.
