About the Artists:

MILENA ZHIVOTOVSKAYA is a Ukranian born and New York based pianist, composer, and collaborator. She has been a prize winner at the American Fine Arts Festival, The Young Artist Piano and Composers’ Competition, the ASCAP Young Composers’ Competition, and the Composition in the Arts Program. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, Merkin Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, Roerich Museum concert series, Soofser series at Bohemian National Hall (NY), Ukrainian Embassy (Washington, DC) and Colston Hall (UK) among others. Her performances have been aired in Ukraine, United Kingdom, and United States, and included her own compositions. Ms. Zhivotovskaya’s duo performance in the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago was recently broadcast live on WFMT.

Ms. Zhivotovskaya holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Mannes College where she studied with Pavlina Dokovska and Jerome Rose. She has also studied with Eteri Andjaparidze at NYU Steinhardt where she was a member of the Adjunct Piano Faculty. Her composition mentors were Leonid Hrabovsky and Robert Cuckson. She worked closely with Todd Phillips, Victor Rosenbaum, Lewis Kaplan, Charles Neidich, and David Krakauer. She teaches piano at Lucy Moses School and music theory at Mannes Preparatory Division.

LOUIS ARQUES is a woodwind virtuoso from Grenoble, France. Moving to New York City in fall 2016 to pursue his MA at the New School College of Performing Arts with Professors Neidich and Krakauer, he has rapidly become one of New York City’s most in-demand chamber and orchestral soloists– String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Mannes Orchestra (Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall), Bridget Kibbey’s Trio, Quintet of the Americas, co-founder of NewOrch and co-artistic director of Metamorphosis Chamber Orchestra. Louis is a frequent New Music collaborator, including composers Elizabeth Hoffman and Robert Cuckson. He also performs early music on Von Vittorelli’s replicas of eighteenth century instruments.

Together with guitarist-composer Richard Boukas he formed the acclaimed Brazilian music Diálogos Duo. He also plays Afro-Cuban music with Sonido Costeño and Jazz in venues including Birdland. A Vandoren artist, he taught in France for ten years including the Paris Conservatoire and recently joined the faculty of the Diller-Quaile School of Music.
