SUMMARY:Man With a Movie Camera &Amp; Original Piano Score By Taras Luka\, at Ukrainian National Home
DESCRIPTION:Live Cinema Experience \n\nFollowing two sold-out performances in New York\, Ukrainian-Canadian award- winning composer and pianist Taras Luka returns to NYC with Man With a Movie Camera — a live cinema experience combining Dziga Vertov’s groundbreaking 1929 silent film with Luka’s original piano score\, performed live. \nCreated in Ukraine and filmed in Kyiv\, Odesa\, and Kharkiv\, Man With a Movie Camera is one of the most influential works of avant-garde cinema. In Sight & Sound’s 2014 poll\, it was named the greatest documentary film of all time. \nAt the heart of the project is the revival of silent cinema with live music as a distinct art form. Through a contemporary reimagining of Man With a Movie Camera\, the audience does not simply watch a historic film — they experience it as a living work of art\, where cinema\, music\, and the presence of the performer come together in real time. \nNearly a century after the film was created\, Luka’s original score establishes a new dialogue with Vertov’s images and rhythms. Rather than simply accompanying the film\, the music becomes part of the storytelling\, transforming each screening into a live performance shaped by the interaction between the screen\, the pianist\, and the audience. \nThe project has already been presented across Canada and the United States\, including two sold-out performances in New York. October · Guest Artist Presentation at NYU Tisch School of the Arts \nPrivate academic presentation · Not open to the public \nThe following evening\, October 22 at 7:30 PM\, Man With a Movie Camera returns to a New York audience at the Ukrainian National Home NYC with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York. \nThe evening is also presented in support of Liberty Ukraine. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to support the organization’s charitable work in Ukraine. \n  \nOctober 22\, 2026 · 7:30 PM \n$ 40 PRESALE \n$ 50 WEEK OF SHOW \nUkrainian National Home NYC \n140 2nd Ave\, New York\, NY 10003 \nComplimentary drinks and light bites will be served. \n  \nTaras Luka — piano & original score \nMan With a Movie Camera (1929) — Dziga Vertov \nhttps://www.instagram.com/taras.luka/ \ntarasluka.com \n  \nOne film.
