Recently named as a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at The Juilliard School, acclaimed cellist Samuel DeCaprio is quickly establishing himself as one of today’s most creative artists and educators. A winner of the 2018 Aldo Parisot Prize at the Yale School of Music, awarded to “gifted cellists who show promise for concert careers”, he has won numerous prizes throughout his career including the Arlington Young Artist Competition, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Young Artist Competition, Oneppo Chamber Music Competition, William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition, and Windham Arts Council Young Artist Competition, as well as the prestigious Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He has also been the recipient of many awards and grants, including the Belding Fund from the Yale School of Music, the International House New York City Artist-in-Residence Award, and the Peter M. Gross Grant from the Mannes School of Music. In addition, Mr. DeCaprio is an accomplished pianist, receiving a graduate award in collaborative piano while at the Eastman School.
