Originally from San Francisco, CA, mezzo-soprano Olivia Cosío has been hailed as a “formidable talent, with a large, sure voice…and a charismatic, even striking, stage presence” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
She is currently a Master of Music degree student at The Juilliard School, studying with Elizabeth Bishop. She was previously in the studio of the late Sanford Sylvan.
This summer, Olivia returns to the Tanglewood Music Center as a Mezzo-Soprano Fellow. Highlights for her TMC summer include performing Haydn’s Arianna a Naxos with the Tanglewood Music Center Chamber Orchestra, singing Bach Cantatas conducted by John Harbison, a performance of Red Wind by TMC composer Sid Richardson, and working with internationally-renowned artists such as Dawn Upshaw, Stephanie Blythe, and Renee Fleming. In August, she will join the New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) as an Emerging Artist in NYFOS@NorthFork for the concert, “Ports of Call”.
