SUMMARY:Juilliard Student Recital: Haozhou Wang\, Piano
DESCRIPTION:Haozhou Wang\, Piano \nVenue \nPaul Hall \nAdmission \nFree; no tickets required \nHaozhou Wang discovered his connection to music at age three\, after hearing a family friend perform during a Chinese New Year celebration and becoming captivated by the piano’s sound. Although the long hours of practice later began to feel burdensome\, his passion was renewed after he watched a documentary about pianist Heeah Lee\, whose perseverance in the face of immense physical challenges deeply inspired him. That example reshaped Haozhou’s outlook\, strengthening his dedication and helping him rediscover both his motivation and his artistic voice at the piano. \nSince then\, Haozhou has built an accomplished international career marked by major competition wins\, including first prizes at the Weatherford International Piano Competition\, the Viseu International Piano Competition\, The Juilliard School Piano Concerto Competition\, The Juilliard School Bachauer Piano Competition\, the YAMAHA USASU International Piano Competition\, and the Cadenza Cup National Youth Piano Competition. Over nearly two decades of musical study\, he has performed at leading venues such as Carnegie Stern Auditorium\, Alice Tully Hall\, Salle Cortot\, Merkin Concert Hall\, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China. A full-scholarship master’s student at The Juilliard School\, he has studied with distinguished teachers including Matti Raekallio\, Susan Starr\, Ignat Solzhenitsyn\, Gary Graffman\, and Robert McDonald. Alongside performing\, Haozhou is also a respected teacher\, with students admitted to prestigious programs including the precollege divisions of the Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School. His work reflects not only technical excellence\, but also a deep belief in music’s power to inspire\, connect\, and heal.
