Intergenerational Jam Session at National Jazz Museum in Harlem

Pianist and master educator Eli Yamin has a way of bringing people together through jazz. He’s a blues evangelist who partners an infectious love for the music with a passion for sharing it in ways that everyone can understand. His musical workshops, full of clapping, singing, dance and play, invite listeners to feel the music deep in their bones. Here, Yamin and friends kick off the afternoon with a romping set of blues and jazz, followed by an all-ages jam session open to musicians, singers, and dancers of every stripe.

About the Artist
Eli Yamin is a jazz and blues pianist, composer, singer, producer and educator. Raised in the bands of jazz masters Walter Perkins, Illinois Jacquet and Barry Harris, his joyful and imaginative piano playing have taken him around the world with his own groups as a cultural ambassador for the U.S. Department of State and led him to perform and teach at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City and President Obama’s White House. Yamin co-founded and serves as Managing and Artistic Director Jazz Power Initiative, a non-profit organization that transforms lives through jazz arts education.
