Formed in November 2024\, the project merges Cece Zhang’s raw shapeshifting keys & synth with Raven Tao’s fiercely expressive violin & electric koto. Both members wield live computer music and vocals\, crafting sonic worlds that tear through and rewire the boundaries between tradition and the avant-garde. Rooted in improvisation\, their performances slip between post-tonal complexity\, mythological ritual\, and noise hauntings\, with emphasis on underrepresented cultures in the global musical hegemony. Their debut album drops July 24\, 2025.\n🎹 Cat in Hiding (Cece Zhang)\nCece Zhang\, aka Cat in Hiding\, is a human-feline composer-performer whose music slinks through left-field soundworlds—glitch\, drone\, dark ambient\, experimental rock\, atonal jazz\, and has performed across the USA and China. Classically trained on piano but long since lured away by intuition and improvisation\, she now writes by ear\, guided by theory and a touch of the spiritual. Her living experiences across Egypt\, Thailand\, and other non-Western contexts also seep into her work\, weaving into a sonic fabric full of tension\, memory\, and subversion\, and sometimes a portal for ghosts\, spirits\, and curious cats.\n🎻 Raven Tao\nRaven Tao is an electro-acoustic composer-performer whose work draws from maqam-based violin phrasing and the shimmering resonance of electric koto. Known for fusing with live processing\, she builds spatial and cultural dissonances into each performance. Her recent appearances span West Bund Museum with Centre Pompidou\, System Shanghai\, Fruit Space Beijing\, Flowing Space Art Venue\, Accent Sisters\, and NYU’s Clive Live series.
