DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the long-awaited album from six piano ensemble Grand Band on Cantaloupe Records. \n\nCome celebrate Grand Band live\, the long-awaited debut album (on Cantaloupe Music) from Grand Band\, a super group of six pianists described by the New York Times as “the Traveling Wilburys of the city’s new-music piano scene.” \nHear the awesome sound of six pianos at our listening party with tracks by Missy Mazzoli\, Julius Eastman\, Kate Moore and Julia Wolfe from Grand Band’s new album. The event will also feature a live film viewing of Josha Frankel’s animation\, created especially for Missy Mazzoli’s work Three Fragile Systems. \nRecorded live in concert for Montclair State University’s PEAK Performances program on February 2020\, the album features four pieces by four different composers: Kate Moore\, Julia Wolfe\, Missy Mazzoli and Julius Eastman.
