DESCRIPTION:This literary-musical composition premiere is a collaboration of pianist Evgeny Kissin and actor Veniamin Smekhov commemorating the Soviet Yiddish poets who perished during Stalinist antisemitic campaign. The fates of the Jewish poets are revealed through poems\, music\, and photos conveying the atmosphere of the time. Poems by Peretz Markish\, David Gofshteyn\, Lev Kvitko\, and others are recited by Kissin in Yiddish and Smekhov in Russian translations\, with musical interpolations by Kissin. English subtitles are provided.
