SUMMARY:Ego Free Jam - First Saturdays at Delight Factory
DESCRIPTION:The Ego Free Jam is a monthly night of improvisational music – electronic and acoustic – for musicians and sound makers of all skill levels. \nWHAT HAPPENS? \nWe’ll go on a co-creative journey\, with emphasis placed on listening to and supporting each other. There will be space for dancing and body movement\, feel free to make art\, or just listen. \nThere are no spectators\, only creators. Allow for the magic to happen! \nThe opening ritual is an invitation to overcome our resistance to self-expression. Take a little risk and delight in knowing that it didn’t kill you 😉 \n\n7:30 PM: Doors open\, time to settle & mingle\n8 PM: JAM #1\n10 PM: JAM #2\n\nThis is a shoes-off event. Let loose. \nPay as you are able\, we suggest $15-20. \n*** \nTHE SIX JAM GUIDELINES \n– Explore & Play! \n– No judgment – of yourself or others. \n– Claim space: Do a solo\, stand out\, be loud\, stay connected\, and step back when it’s time for someone else to claim space. \n– Listen to others. \n– No spectators. Even if you’re not making sounds\, be present\, tune in. \n– Have fun! \nEGO-FREE IS DELIGHTFUL! \nThe ego is the part of us that wants to keep us safe in the world and tries to make us NOT do something. It shows up as fear and embarrassment. When we get the urge to “do it right” out of the way\, we can play and feel the delight. \nDO I NEED TO BE A MUSICIAN? \nNot at all. You can pick up an instrument and improvise\, vocalize\, move your body\, make something\, or just listen. \nWHAT TO BRING? \nYou are encouraged to bring an instrument\, dancing body\, art supplies\, favorite toy\, whatever inspires you and is fun for you. Or come as you are. We have percussion instruments\, a piano\, synthesizers\, mics\, & more. \nFOOD & DRINK \nWe’ll have both by donation. \nIS THIS A REOCCURRING EVENT? \nYes! It’s every first Saturday of the month (check the website to be sure). We’ll have cross air where possible\, hepa filter\, and sanitizing spray and wipes for instruments. If you’re having symptoms\, please stay home. We encourage masks. We decided to create a permanent space for the jam\, as well as for art shows and other events that involve music\, dance\, soulful exploration & play. In the fall of 2021 we opened Delight Factory as a bold\, supportive\, intimate\, and welcoming space for creative and curious people to come together\, explore their interests and selves\, while having a good time.
