Conrad Tao Solo Recital at 92Y (Site)

Saturday December 18, 2021, 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$20.00

[A musician of] “probing intellect and open-hearted vision”

The New York Times

Conrad Tao is reimagining what it means to be a classical musician in the 21st Century. A prodigiously gifted concert pianist and adventurous award-winning composer, Tao’s 2019 performance with violinist Stefan Jackiw in our Soundspace series left the audience enthralled, as did his dazzling Carnegie Hall debut. Tao makes his first appearance on our main stage with a program reflective of the stylistic and aesthetic range of his artistry. Juxtaposing masterworks by Schumann and Beethoven with a selection by John Adams, a Bach chorale, and short works of Tao’s own and of luminary composer Jason Ekhardt and the singular Fred Hersch, it’s an ideal program for exploring the genius of the artist New York magazine wrote is “shaping the future of classical music.”

Concert also available via livestream and available for 72 hours from time of broadcast.

Program
John Adams China Gates
Bach Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein, BWV 641
Schumann Kinderszenen, Op. 15
Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 30 in A-flat Major, Op. 110
Interspersed with short works of Conrad Tao, Jason Eckardt, and Fred Hersch
