Carmen Ching at NYU Tandon School of Engineering (Brooklyn) (Site)

FreeBorn in Hong Kong, Carmen Ching earned her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied with Tessa Nicholson. She was a 3rd and 4th prize winner of the 3rd Chinese pieces International Piano Competition and the 69th Steinway & Sons International Youth Competition, she was awarded the first prize at the 86th Hong Kong Music Festival. She has appeared in solo recitals and chamber music concerts at venues such as the Hong Kong Cultural Center, Hong Kong City Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Stadium (Hong Kong), the David Josefowitz Recital Hall and the Duke’s Hall (London). She participated the Internationale Klavierakademie Murrhardt (Germany), Inside Out Festival (London), and Aspen Music Festival (Colorado), and was featured in recitals and master classes with Christina McMaster, Pascal Devoyon, Felix Gottlieb, John Perry, and Hung-Kuan Chen.
Carmen also composes and performs her own music. She was invited to perform her own work, “Dream”, at the Dream Stage competition in Hong Kong and her cadenza for Mozart Concerto K.453 was highly recognized, she has receive very highly commended at the Royal Academy of Music Piano Concerto Competition.
Carmen currently studies with Artist Faculty member Yoojung Kim at NYU Steinhardt, where she is a member of the adjunct faculty in Piano Studies.
